Psychotherapy, Assessment, Consultation
The beginning of our work together will focus on my getting to know you so that I can understand what is troubling you and determine how I can help you most effectively.
The work we do together will be specifically tailored to your needs. We will address the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Additionally, it is important to explore and understand your personal history as it will help us gain insight into patterns that emerge throughout your life.
This understanding will help you begin to gain control over your thoughts, feelings and behaviors which will ultimately lead to an increased sense of satisfaction in your life and relationships.
Throughout our work together, I will provide honest and direct feedback in a supportive and nurturing manner. I will help you learn how to problem solve and discover solutions to problems in your life that currently seem insurmountable.
Every client is different, thus I focus on how to meet your individual needs within the therapeutic environment by incorporating the whole person and all his/her complexities into our work. I see psychotherapy as a mutual and reciprocal exchange within the relationship between us, so the connection is of most importance!
I am trained as a generalist, thus I hold competence with most issues that walk through the door. However, below are areas of particular specialization for me:
Evaluations can often be completed in as little as two weeks. Most of my evaluations include a detailed written report and feedback session.
Psychoeducational – Used to assess for learning disabilities and attentional problems, and rule out other possible issues in academic achievement – meets requirements for standardized testing, school, or college accommodations
ADHD – Used to assess for attentional problems and rule out other possible issues in academic or occupational achievement – meets requirements to be considered for pharmacological treatment
Comprehensive Psychological – Used to assess clinical, personality, and cognitive issues related to current functioning – can clarify complex clinical issues which may involve substance abuse, thought disorder, identity issues, and cognitive deficits
Forensic – Used to assess clinical, personality, and cognitive issues related to current functioning – meets requirements for most court-ordered, forensic, or fitness-for-duty issues
IQ & Achievement – Used to assess intellectual and achievement levels, and assess for learning disabilities – meets requirements for the diagnosis of learning disabilities
Pre-Surgical – Used to assess clinical and personality characteristics related to specific situations – meets requirements for gastric bypass, spinal cord stimulation, in-vitro fertilization, and pre-adoption issues
Brief Psychological – Used to assess clinical and personality characteristics as they relate to general functioning – can be used to enhance clinical assessment and treatment planning
In addition to our general evaluations, I offer specific testing that does not include clinical interviews or feedback sessions. These procedures may yield somewhat less comprehensive information, but are generally much less time consuming and less expensive.
As I hold expertise in multicultural psychology, I offer my services to provide trainings and presentations on the different levels of diversity, which has growing importance in this global world and workplace. My consultations specifically focus on providing overviews of contemporary research on multicultural understanding in the modern sociocultural climate, alongside practical strategies for implementation and measurement. Consultation can take place on multiple levels – individual, systemic, and organizational.
A relatively new area of psychology is technology. From my experience in software development and web design previous to my psychology career, I am able to help you integrate technology into your practice. I have developed healthcare mobile applications and standalone software in the healthcare sector. Thus, I am invested in bridging the gap between technology and health. I am available to consult with you and/or your organization regarding such topics as:
One of my primary roles is in Healthcare Quality Management, especially in Behavioral Health settings. I have coordinated risk management and compliance programs from start to finish, ranging in topics from Peer Review to Patient Experience. Within this, I have gained the skills to help you and your organization with quality initiatives from the planning stage to implementation with continuous program assessment and outcome. Develop a culture of compliance, quality, and change management for the benefit of patients and staff.
